Yangon, Myanmar--- As a part of the 2018 Investment and Market Research Mission to Myanmar, “Myanmar-Korea Investment Promotion Seminar” which is jointly conducted by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and ASEAN-Korea Centre was held on June 20th 2018 at Lotte Hotel, Yangon. The Seminar was attended by around 100 participants from relevant ministries and agencies and private sectors from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Republic of Korea.
The Seminar was organized to provide a platform to scale up Korean’s investments in Myanmar and enhance a win-win partnership between the two countries. At its Opening Ceremony, U Than Aung Kyaw, Deputy Director General of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration delivered welcoming remarks. Then, H.E Lee Sang-wha, Korean Ambassador to Myanmar and H.E Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre delivered remarks respectively.
Following the ceremony, U Min Zaw Oo, Director from the DICA gave a briefing presentation on Myanmar Investment Law, Rules, investment opportunities, incentives, and key factors of Myanmar Companies Law. Myanmar’s up-to-date infrastructure projects in manufacturing sector and Procedure on wholesale and retail for foreign company were also introduced by U Thaung Oo, Director from Ministry of Industry and Daw Cho Thet Mu, Deputy Director from Ministry of Commerce.
The seminar was concluded with a one on one business matching session, in which Myanmar companies and Korea companies to seek tangible business outcomes. This Korean businesses mission interested in the sectors of manufacturing and service sector (wholesale and retail), and sought business network with the Myanmar counterparts.
