Request for Expressions of Interest for Individual Consultant-Translator cum Interpreter for Medium Taxpayer Office, Internal Revenue Department (IRD), Yangon

The project is seeking to recruit a national Translator cum Interpreter to support its work in the area of modernization of its tax functions. The translation services are to assist the IRD in translating documents from English to Myanmar and from Myanmar to English documents, and interpretation services is to assist the communications for the international consultants and the IRD.

This work will specifically include:

Translation of documents from Myanmar to English, and from English to Myanmar, and would comprise of – key publications and major documents, shorter documents for public dissemination, documents for internal use, and operational and miscellaneous documents.

Interpretation in Myanmar and in English – consecutive interpretation during meetings with small groups and larger groups, and workshops; simultaneous interpretation for individuals (international consultants), and for groups.

The Consultant is required to demonstrate the following as a minimum:

• Proven abilities and experience in English/Myanmar translation
• At least 5 years professional English/Myanmar translating experience (preferred)
• Capacity and Ability to finish heavy task of translation under tight deadline
• A proven track record of successful translation of technical related documents.
• Experience in translation & interpreting related documents on Audit related subject matters
• Would be an advantage.

The assignment is for an estimated duration of 12 months (full time). The location of the assignment is in Yangon, Myanmar.
