To strengthen corporate governance regulatory standards and practices in Myanmar, the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between IFC , a member of the World Bank Group and the securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar (SECM) was held on 17 March , 2017 at the Ministry of Planning and Finance in May Pyi Taw.
This MOU was signed by U Maung Maung Win, Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance as well as a Chairman of SECM, and Mr. Jingdong Hua, IFC Vice President and Treasury. The responsible persons and Director Generals from Myanma Economic Bank, Budget Department, Treasury Department and Office of the SECM and the delegates from International Finance Corporation (IFC) attended to this ceremony.
Regarding the MOU , both parties, IFC and the Commission will work together to raise public awareness of corporate governance through a series of public conferences, to assist the Commission to promote its capacity by providing corporate governance training and by sharing the best practices concerned with the capital markets and regulators as the areas of sustainable disclosure and investor rights, and to support the commission in reviewing new regulations that will be developed to enhance corporate governance standards.
